So, you’ve applied for an IPO and now the "Allotment Date" has arrived. This is often the most stressful part for a retail investor. There are three official ways to check if you have been lucky: via the Registrar’s Website, the BSE/NSE Portal, or your Bank/Brokerage App. Knowing how to use these tools will save you from refreshing your email every five minutes.\n\nThe most reliable method is through the "IPO Registrar." Every IPO has a designated registrar like Link Intime, Bigshare Services, or KFin Tech. You simply visit their website, select the company name, and enter your PAN number or Application Number. This portal provides the most detailed information, including the number of shares applied for and the number of shares allotted to you.\n\nAlternatively, you can use the BSE or NSE "Status of Public Issue" page. Here, you need to select the "Equity" type, choose the issue name, and enter your PAN. This is a great "backup" if the registrar’s website is slow due to heavy traffic. If you see "Record Not Found," don’t panic—it usually just means the data hasn’t been uploaded yet. Final allotment figures are often uploaded late in the evening or even after midnight.\n\nYour third option is checking your "ASBA" (Applications Supported by Blocked Amount) status. Log into your net banking or your broker app (like Zerodha or Upstox). If the money that was "blocked" has been "debited," it’s a high chance you got the allotment. If the funds have been "unblocked" or "released," it means you were unsuccessful this time. You will also receive an official SMS and email from the exchange by the end of the day.\n\nIn 2026, with the move toward "T+3" listing (listing within 3 days of the IPO closing), the allotment process is becoming even faster. For a Tuesday-closing IPO, you might see your allotment by Wednesday night! Always make sure your UPI ID and PAN are correctly linked to your demat account to avoid technical rejections. Good luck with your next application!
