LAPL Automotive IPO Opens Today; ₹32.40 Crore SME Issue Draws Investor Interest Ahead of Subscription

LAPL Automotive Limited has officially launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) for public subscription today, August 6, 2026. The SME public issue will remain open until August 10, 2026, while the company's equity shares are proposed to be listed on the NSE Emerge platform after the completion of the allotment process and regulatory approvals. The company aims to raise approximately ₹32.40 crore through a completely fresh issue, making it one of the key SME IPOs currently available in the primary market.

The IPO has been priced in the range of ₹88 to ₹94 per equity share. Since the issue consists entirely of a fresh issue of shares, the entire capital raised will be available to support the company's expansion plans and strengthen its financial position. The public issue is open to retail, non-institutional, and qualified institutional investors under the SME book-building process.

LAPL Automotive Limited is an integrated automotive components manufacturer established in 2004. The company specializes in designing, developing, and manufacturing a wide range of automotive products including automotive lighting systems, signalling lamps, rear-view mirrors, starter motors, wiper motors, rotors, stators, BLDC fans, plastic moulded components, metal parts, and electrical assemblies for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and electric vehicles.

The company operates under both Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) and Original Brand Manufacturing (OBM) models, enabling it to provide customized automotive solutions for leading OEMs. Its manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra are equipped with modern production systems and operate under internationally recognized automotive quality standards, supporting consistent product quality and long-term customer relationships.

According to the offer documents, the IPO proceeds will primarily be utilized for setting up a new manufacturing facility, which is expected to significantly enhance production capacity and support the company's future growth. A portion of the funds will also be used for repayment of existing borrowings, reducing finance costs and strengthening the company's balance sheet, while the remaining amount will be allocated toward general corporate purposes.

Financially, LAPL Automotive has delivered strong growth over the past three financial years. During FY2026, the company reported revenue of approximately ₹93.25 crore, compared with ₹65.98 crore in FY2025. Profit after tax increased to around ₹8.63 crore, highlighting substantial improvement in operational efficiency, higher production volumes, and growing customer demand. The consistent improvement in profitability has strengthened investor confidence ahead of the IPO.

India's automotive components industry continues to benefit from rising domestic vehicle production, increasing exports, localisation initiatives, and rapid growth in the electric vehicle segment. Government programmes such as Make in India and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are encouraging investments in component manufacturing, creating favourable long-term opportunities for companies supplying automotive OEMs.

One of the company's key strengths is its diversified product portfolio covering lighting systems, electrical assemblies, mirrors, and plastic automotive components. This broad product range allows LAPL Automotive to serve multiple vehicle segments rather than relying on a single category, helping reduce business concentration risk while strengthening long-term customer relationships.

The company also continues to benefit from growing demand for automotive lighting and electronic components as vehicle manufacturers increasingly adopt advanced safety systems, LED lighting technologies, and electric mobility solutions. Management expects the proposed manufacturing expansion to improve capacity utilization and support future order execution.

On the first day of subscription, investor participation started cautiously, with bids gradually building across investor categories. Subscription levels are expected to improve during the remaining days of the issue as institutional and retail participation typically increases closer to the closing date.

Industry analysts believe LAPL Automotive is well positioned to benefit from long-term growth in India's automotive manufacturing sector. Increasing localisation, rising exports, expanding electric vehicle production, and sustained investments by automobile manufacturers are expected to support demand for high-quality automotive components over the coming years.

Despite the positive outlook, investors should also consider certain business risks before investing. According to the offer documents, the company derives a significant portion of its revenue from a limited number of customers, with its largest customer contributing more than 77% of revenue during FY2026. The company also reported relatively high employee attrition, making customer diversification and workforce retention important factors for future growth.

With subscriptions now open, LAPL Automotive Limited has emerged as one of the notable SME IPOs in the automotive components sector. Supported by improving financial performance, expansion-focused fundraising plans, and favourable long-term industry trends, the company is expected to remain in focus throughout the subscription period. Investors will closely monitor subscription demand across retail, non-institutional, and institutional investor categories before the proposed listing on the NSE Emerge platform.
